LOCAL AREA
Within 2 miles of the cottages are a number of attractive and interesting places to visit. one of these is the unspoiled and quiet village of Exton where most of the lanes are bounded by the traditional flint walls of Hampshire. There one will find the Shoe Inn which as well as serving Wadsworth beers and food, has a delightful riverside garden.
In the small village of Corhampton, is one of Southern England's most charming little Saxon churches built around the first Millennium! There is also a stocked village shop within 2 miles.

The cottages are half a mile from the nearest bus stop and approximately 12 miles from both Petersfield and Winchester train stations. Visitors prepared to travel as far as 5 or 6 miles will find a wealth of interest. The pleasant small country town of Bishops Waltham has the Palace of the medieval Bishops of Winchester and Alresford has attractive architecture and street layout.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS
WARNING! If you are planning to use SAT NAV to help you find the cottages please make sure you also read the instructions below, and have a map handy, as we have learned many SAT NAV systems have trouble finding us.

The cottages are situated just off the A32 (Alton Road) between Exton and Warnford signposted Beacon Hill Farm AVOID Exton village and sign post for Beacon Hill Lane.


WALKING
Beacon Hill is a Nature Reserve and provides a rare chance to enjoy native downland fauna and flora. The reserve also contains the great ditches and banks of a major Iron Age Hill. This has been constructed around a group of Bronze Age burial mounds which can still be seen today.
The cottages lie close beneath Beacon Hill with it's ancient track way visible from the approach lane. A path starting at the top of the hill affords magnificent views over Beacon Hill Farm Cottages.

ACTIVITIES
There are many things to do in the surrounding area such as Bishops Waltham Museum and Jane Austens House, and also a variety in Portsmouth and Winchester inlcuding the HMS Warrior or Marwell Zoo. There are also various popular shopping locations close by.

FOOD
There are a variety of places to eat in the immediate area, including The Shoe, in Exton and The Bucks Head in Corhampton. As well as some excellent restaurants in Winchester and Alresford.

There are also regular Farmers markets in Winchester and Petersfield and The Hampshire Food Festival which takes place in July every year.
